Work and Play

Okay, so it's been awhile since we have last updated, but damn we have been busy.  Addie has made a nice transition to her new office in Ogden.  And we have some good news!! She is coming home for a weekend and the countdown has been reset.

Addie has started school again, which is good because it eats up most of her spare time. She gets home sick pretty easy, but she is in good hands and has bonded quick with the in-laws. She went to Antelope Island last weekend and just this past Saturday they loaded up and took a drive to Idaho.

We should play a caption game with this one.
Anyone know what movie this is from. Luke should know.

I think this is Bear Lake

And with my lady gone here is just a sample what  I've we've been up to.

If it ever stops raining I can finish this one.

Half way done!

Trim around the windows has been completed.

I couldn't have done all this work if it wasn't for a couple of the greatest dudes this side of the Mississippi.  We have been busting our tails for the past few Saturdays and I have been working solo on Sundays.....Yeah I give them a day off....slackers.

We have managed to get the kitchen floor done (again), cabinets and counter tops set, trim work around the windows and door on the back addition along with new siding, new windows in the basement, new mirror, light fixture and exhaust fan in the bathroom, and a load of rock for the driveway.  We also took out the old stairs leading down to the basement to do some patching and went ahead and ran a new riser and treads for the lower half. I would say that  it's coming together quite nice.  It's funny how much crap you get done when you are motivated.  I should have done this years ago! Now I only have about 8 weeks to get it all done. We are steadily checking off the list, and as quickly as it's going, there is still plenty to do.

Do I look nervous to you?

Ya I was nervous, I am still nervous.  If you know me you know that this is just how I roll!  I joke with clients that I worry about worrying to much, scratch head on this one. Lets get to the meat of my weekend shall we.

This is totally my nervous face, and my favorite coffee cup I did not bring:(

And this is Rusty's gangsta face...helping me not flip out:)

With bags packed and kids in tow we set out for the airport.  It was bitter sweet for a couple of reasons. One, the sweet part,  major construction was getting ready to start on the house and this is not my comfort zone.  In the kitchen and bathroom of all places, how do you cook and how do you shower?  I was quite happy to get on that plane.  Two, the bitter part, I was leaving my hubby, my kids, my dogs, my friends, my life, my everything, to fly to a place 20 hours away to start with a new agent, meet and live with in-laws, and try to navigate a new city. I was not quite happy to be getting on that plane.

The drive to the airport was interesting to say the least.  It went from sunny with a little bit of wind to this maddness!

A lite rain quickly transitioned to ice and snow, wth?

Ahh the airport.  KC is easy.... you park, check a bag, and go through security. No crazy lines, no underground traines to ride, no non-sense.  This made saying goodbye so much easier. The plane ride was great, I sat next to a younger gentleman who was coming from Arkansas to Utah with his father to visit family.  They were headed to the Jazz, Magic game in Salt Lake. As we were flying he kept snap napping and I kept trying to take pictures over him of the mountains. I am pretty sure he thought I was crazy!

Best I could get:(
But once we landed and I got to take it all in this is what I got.

I literally could not leave this spot just because of the overwhleming mountains.
All in all, I am happy I am here.  I miss my family but the mountains and in-laws make up for it.  They are great and have done everything to make me feel like I have been here forever. The first thing we did when we got off the plane was this.

Picture perfect ;-)

Rusty and I are self proclaimed foodies!  We love everything that has to do with food. If you have ever had a meal made by Rusty then you know that he is an amazing cook!  On Saturday the in-laws took me into Salt Lake.  I looovvveeee Salt Lake!  It is a big city that seems like the most accessable thing I have ever seen. Absolutly not intemidating at all! We went to a car show....

One day Boo!

And then we hit up the pimpest grocery store I have ever seen!  Whole foods does not have crap on this place!

Produce Porn for my Boo!

Ya you like that, I know you do!

These views were all from the upstairs cafe/chill area.

Im talkin post office, kitchen store, and a whole instruction room were you can take cooking classes. Oh yea, and the fireplace with leather chairs and sofa's. Bring the VW and we could just live in the parking garage, raising little Bobby Flay's!

I love it here and so look forward to starting our new life. I miss my boys, my friend's, and my comfort, but I know in the end this will all be worth it.

And She's Gone

Yesterday was a sad day in the Sapp household. Our beloved Captain boarded a plane and headed to the great state of Utah to start a new journey. Trouble is we were left behind for a couple months until the boys finish up school, and I along with friends, fix up the old crib.

Not to worry though I am sure the boys and I be just fine. And if there is any nonsense that goes down, at least I know they will have my back.

I mean you would wanna mess with those gangstas? I think not.

Hopefully Addie will have a write up on her travels and what she's been up to later this week. Until then thanks for all the great support we have been getting.  It's gonna be awesome!

Just A Few Days Left

In just a few short days Addie will be leaving JC, and as excited as we are about our upcoming move, we are sad that our captain will be away for a few months. As you can imagine our brains are on system overload right now.  Not only is Addie finishing up her two classes for this session of school, we have taxes to prepare, kids to take care of, work to be done on the house, as many farewells to friends and family as we can fit in, all while trying to figure out the logistics of our impending move come May.

We have already started purging, finding anything we may want to sell and putting it on the Facebook swap shop, eBay, and Craigslist. I have been working feverishly on the house while Addie has been packing up everything she can and trying to fit it in her suit case. Thankfully, here in the next few weeks our kitchen floors will be redone, new siding on the back porch and new steps out front. Not really looking forward to these costly repairs but they are much needed. I hope to have the house listed middle of April but I'm not so sure if there is going to be enough time to get all this done by then....

Anyone know where I can find one of these bad boys?

While I am a little pessimistic that the house will sell in a timely manner it looks like we will be keeping most of our belongings at the house.  Some how we will need to get our most important items like our bikes(6 total), camping/adventure racing gear, kayak, fishing equipment, game systems, clothing, shoes (yes I am a shoe whore) and our dogs, you know the necessities in life. And mostly in that order.

It turns out renting a small box truck is going to cost a small fortune, $1300-$1400 plus gas. (And that's just to get us out there with the gear mentioned above. Once the house sells we will have to fly back and rent another.) So if anyone has a enclosed trailer, and or a lot of cash we need to talk.
Maybe lady luck will be on our side and we will sell the house and only have to make one real trip out. Or maybe we just sell most of our crap here and buy all new out here? What do you think?

We plan on selling the Pathfinder, but by looking at this picture, we may end up changing our minds!

2011 Wakarusa Challenge. Read the report here.

I think Addie is a little overwhelmed right now. So whether you post on here or on her Facebook I am sure she would love to hear from you and any support would be awesome!

GO WEST

Snowbird UT.
It may come as a surprise that come May, we will have left our mark (skid or otherwise) on JC and will embarq on an all new adventure. Yeah that's right, look out Utah, here we come.

Here's how things went down.  Addie got a message from my step-mom Dina saying they would like to fly all of us out to Utah for a week. Immediately  we were blown away from the offer and said HELL YEAH! Now we just needed to figure out when we would go.

While we were trying to find a good date for all, it seemed like there were endless daydreams of the mountains and all the stuff we were going to do.  Internet searches on the area, coupled by past adventures Kole and I were able to have when we were there had poisoned our brain.  If you have ever been to Utah then you know how beautiful it is, and there are tons of things to do within a short distance of home base.

So the other day we were lounging around and daydreaming, I told Addie that she should drop Dina a line and ask if they would be willing to take a few refugees from Missouri. Really we were more or less just seeing if we had the testicular fortitude to actually ask. On Wednesday (02/01/2012) Addie decided to do a search within her company to see about openings in Utah near Rusty and Dina and bingo, one just down the road about 10 miles away. She made a call just to get a little info and ended up talking to her future boss, he said that he would be willing to wait a month for Addie to finish this term in school and give her current boss enough time to digest the news.  That evening Addie had enough courage to send Dina and Rusty Sr. a message just putting it out there to see what the reaction would be.  Little did she know Dina would write back  "STFU???  Hell YA!!!"  she interviewed the next two days and got the offer on Monday.  Talk about a quick chain of events.

On a side note Addie and I have toyed with the idea of moving for quite some time now. A couple of years ago it was Utah, then last year we thought about St.Louis. As cliche as it may sound right now it seems like the stars have aligned just right and the the time is here.  Also when Addie was talking to her new boss, he said he was waiting on the call from St. Louis to get the okay to  offer the job to another canidate. He was the one who answered the phone since it said Edward Jones thinking it was the home office. I guess you can see that it does appear to be our time!

Right now we have a ton of emotions running through our little nuggets.  We are all a little scared, excited, nervous, and just plain freaked out. It's a huge move. HUGE! But we are a tight knit bunch and seem to take on anything the world decides to throw our way.  Addie will be heading out March 2nd. She will be flying into Salt Lake City and staying about 30 miles north in Clinton.  The boys and I will hold down the fort until they get out of school in May and then go West.

*Big thanks to David Sapp for posting the much better original to Addie's Facebook page when she posted the news.  Unfortunately I could not upload that one. But if you get a chance click it here to watch it.  You wont regret it!

Stay tuned, and follow our journey! Better yet Follow our blog.   Addie will be updating while out in Utah and I will be posting our remaining time here.  Happy hearts to all:)
